Mr. Harrison joined the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra as concertmaster in 1949. He preformed as a soloist 18 times with the orchestra. In addition to his duties with ASO, he was concertmaster and personnel manager at the Brevard Music Festival for eight years. He retired from the orchestra in 1981.
He married Anna Curtis Harrison, and they had three sons, and one daughter: Robert C. Harrison, - Richard D. Harrison, - David C. Harrison, and Deryle Redd.
A memorial service was held at Second Ponce de Leon Baptist Church. The body was cremated.
Mr. Harrison died of congestive heart failure at Piedmont Hospital.
