Jacob Esau Stotler was the son of Joseph Stotler of Frederick County, Virginia. Many of his family worked for B&O Railroad, where his family supported the Underground Railroad by helping Slaves & Servants to Ohio. Jacob was found hung in a tree on Aug. 2, 1916 near his employment, Hancock Station, on the West Virginia Side of the Potomac River. His body was quickly removed to an unknown location. His death certificate named him incorrectly as Jacob East Stotler. Confirmed with Birth Certificates, Census Records, and Family History.
Marriages: Jacob 1st married Zelpha Tamson (Crouse) Stotler (1874), who died young. He was a widower and 2nd married Leanna Elta (Catlett) Stotler (b. 1872).
