Bruno Joseph Goulet passed away peacefully on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018 at home in Mariposa, comforted by his wife and loving family, at the age of 80.

He was born on Oct. 6, 1937 in Montreal, Canada to Elveria and Albert Goulet, the sixth of seven children.

Bruno entertained his family with stories of his early years in Blackstone, Mass. without indoor plumbing, where he reportedly "walked to school, in the snow, bare foot, up-hill … both ways." He moved to California in the 1950s and graduated from Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana in 1955. He married his life-long love, Carol, on Oct. 29, 1960.

Throughout his life, Bruno had a wonderful talent for being business partners with his wife of 58 years. Bruno was a very hard worker and had multiple, successful careers. His time was marked as a sergeant in the National Guard, a Buena Park police officer, a glazier for Lund's Glass in Anaheim, and a contractor/business owner of Bruin Glass Works/No. Orange Co. Glass for 25 years with major contracts with Orange County school districts, Texaco, Shell Oil and Knott's Berry Farm.

Bruno retired to Mariposa in 1985 where he continued as a contractor, school bus driver and landlord extraordinaire.

Bruno enjoyed the simple pleasures of life such as sitting on his cedar deck in the Sierra Nevada foothills and "watching the clouds roll by." He enjoyed visiting with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and generously shared his passions with them. He inspired his family to love outdoor activities such as fishing, camping, river trips, dirt bike riding, 4-H, eating ice cream, road trips and parades in which he entered his beloved Model-A. He enjoyed visits to the casino with his brothers and sisters, playing liar's poker at family gatherings, and chatting with neighbors.

Bruno had an uncanny ability to assist those in need. He was a Third Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus and an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where he volunteered at the Manna House.

He is survived by his wife Carol; children Constance, Cynthia, Margaret, Patricia, Martin, Daniel and Rebecca; 30 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Bruno was welcomed warmly onto the other side by his little baby in heaven; parents Elveria and Albert Goulet; younger brother Francis "Frank" Goulet; and his brothers-in-law Robert Renaud and Albert La Tulippe.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Mass was held on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Holy Family Cathedral in Orange. He was interred at St. Joseph Church, Mariposa.
