Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Fry and grandson ___ Carlisle
spent Sunday afternoon _____. Mr. Fry's sister,
Elizabeth E. Fry. Mrs. Annie Paden and granddaughter
Ada Lawver of Eschol called at the same place on their
return from Millerstown where they called on Mrs.
Paden's son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest
Lane, to whose home they were conveyed by her son,
Edward Paden of Loysville accompanied by his wife and
Geo. W. Paden of Eshcol. Miss Barbara May Moyer of Harrisburg is making an
indefinite visit with her grand-mother, Mrs. Annie C.
Paden.


Mrs. Annie C. Paden and grand daughter Ada V.
Lauver of this place and son and daughter inlaw Edward
Paden and wife of Loysville visited Mr. and Mrs.
Ernest Lane of Millerstown Sunday. They also called
on Charles Lyons and family of Raccoon Valley Sunday.

Annie was the Daughter of Joseph and Catherine Fry.

She had two brothers Joseph and Matthew
and three Sisters: Maggie, Lizzie and Anie Fry..
She was the Wife of Stiles Paden
who she married on June 14th,1888..
They had thirteen Children.
Eleven girls and Two Boys,

Daniel, Eva, Maurel Ruth, and Lizzie
who died as Children,
and Minnie, who died at the age of 22.
Annie Mildred, Olive Celina, Ethel,
Lorma, Ada, LuLu, Mary and Edward Paden.
They had several grandchildren
and great grandchildren.
Annie died peacefully at her home in Eshcol Pa,
with her family by her side..

The place next to us in Eshcol,
between our place and the One room school house
is where Annie Paden, My Grandmother lived.
I lived there off and on with her
and she wanted everyone to call her Mom..
I was there with her when she died
in the Winter of 1937..
The last "Wake" of the Clan.
.Sam Myers was the Undertaker
and at that time the Custom was
to put a Crape on the house..
The front of the house had two doors.
one into the Kitchen and one into the Parlor.
They put the Crape right between these doors.
.The Crapes were different colors
depending on the age, Sex Etc..
I believe hers was Lavendar..
Well like I said, the Hearse
bought her back to the House
and it was servere cold weather
with four inches of snow on the ground..T
he tires squealed when they backed the Hearse in..
they set Mom up in the Parlor,
and someone was with her, day and night
for about three days.
Then they burried her in the Eshcol Cemetery
after services in the Chapel there.
"Mom was the Best or at least one
of the Best people I've ever known..
I'll never forget her.
