MARKHAM, GLYNN, 80

Alachua - Glynn Markham, age 80, died Sunday, May 20, 2007 at E.T. Hospice Care Center. Glynn was born in Lake City, FL and moved to Gainesville, he has lived in Alachua, FL since 1966. Glynn formerly worked for Graham-Jones Paper Co. for 17 years. He was Co-Owner of Gainesville Paper Co. for 8 years. Glynn also owned and operated the Rebel House Restaurant for 33 years.

Glynn is a member of the First Baptist Church of Alachua, where he was a Deacon. Glynn served in the U.S. Navy During W.W. II and Korea, in W.W.II he was stationed aboard a Destroyer, the USS McCook, during the D-Day invasion. He was CO-Founder of the D-Day Veterans Group in Alachua County, was a member of the V.F.W., Sons of Confederate Veterans and a member of the Alachua Lions Club. Glynn was one of the most patriotic people and was well known to everyone. He played taps at a lot of Military Services.

His parents, Dorphus Roe and Bessie Lee Markham, 3 brothers and 1 sister preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Frances Gentry Markham of Alachua, FL, Daughter and Son-in-law, Cynthia and Stephen Andrews of Lake City, FL, son and daughter-in-law, Fredrick L. and Nancy Markham of Knoxville, TN., sister, Clorece Hayes of Hoschton, GA. and four grandchildren, Brian and Michael Andrews, Martha and Andrew Markham.

The family will receive friends at the First Baptist Church of Alachua, FL. Wednesday morning from 10:00 - 11:00 A.M. The Funeral will follow at 11:00 A.M., burial will follow at Newnansville Cemetery, Alachua, FL., with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Florida Baptist Children's Home, C/O First Baptist Church of Alachua, Alachua, Florida. MILAM FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, 311 S. Main St., Gainesville, FL., 352-376-5361 are in care of arrangements.
