Elizabeth Boatner Rawlinson, age 85, of Birmingham went home to live with her heavenly father Thursday evening, February 2, 2012. She was a member of Hunter Street Baptist Church and was a retired realtor. Elizabeth had a passion for others, treating all with great kindness and respect. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and aunt. She was a woman of tremendous faith, tenacity, empathy, and strength. Elizabeth instilled these qualities into her loved ones. These traits were ingrained into her character as seen in her everyday life even as she entered into the great Kingdom of Heaven. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of many forever. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Glenn Eldon Rawlinson, her grandson Brett Rustin Peters, and her brothers Robert Earl Boatner, and Lester Franklin Boatner. Survivors include her three daughters, grandchildren, great grandchildren, several nephews and one niece, and very special family friends .
The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to the doctors & nurses of Brookwood Hospital for their compassionate care. A memorial service celebrating Elizabeth's life will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, February 6, 2012 at Ridout's Elmwood Chapel. The Rev. Johnny Mount is officiating. The family will receive friends at noon prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude's Hospital, the American Cancer Society, or the American Heart Association.
