Mrs. Yvonne E. Abate (nee Andersen), 99, of Park Ridge, on Saturday August 5, 2017. Born December 12, 1917 in Jersey City. Born of Norwegian parents she was very proud of her heritage and instilled many of the traditions to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of the Daughters of Norway at age 16 and the became a member of the Sons of Norway-Freya Lodge and the Nor Bu Lodge # No 3-427, she was a lifelong member. She was involved in Girl Scouts at a young age and guided her children in scouting. She was a den mother and a girl scout leader. Yvonne was a very active member of the VFW Post 4591 of Hasbrouck Heights. Also president of Cooties- Hasbrouck Heights. Yvonne was a lifelong Lutheran and current member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Tenafly, where she was involved in some of the church activities.

Yvonne E. Abate is pre-deceased by her parents Ingeborg & Nils Just Andersen, and her late husband, Lawrence Abate, Sr. (1966). Loving mother of Lawrence Abate, Jr. and his wife Jane, Nils Abate and his wife Victoria, Wayne Abate and his wife Cathy, and Yvonne Maria Forsythe and her husband Wayne. Bestamor of eight granddaughters and nine great grandchildren.

Funeral service 10:00am on Wednesday, meeting at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 430 Knickerbocker Rd, Tenafly. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday from 5-9:00pm at Browning-Forshay Funeral Home, 557 Lafayette Avenue, Hawthorne. In Lieu of flowers family ask donations be made to Trinity Lutheran Church and Ascend Hospice.
