“Ising”, as known to all her relatives and friends, was born on June 4, 1936 in Solano, Nueva Viscaya, Philippines. Her father, Cipriano Paz Sumang, and mother, Maria Miguel Medina, had four children - Cipriano “Ceping”, Angelita “Geling”, Constante “Tante”, and Felicidad “Ising”, being the youngest.
She was married to Eduardo on Jan. 15, 1959, for 59 years and raised 6 children, Ericson, Melchor, Arlene, Jim, Gilbert, and Dinah. She was known to everyone as a very shy person but through this shyness, a strong willed and brave woman she was. She quit her job as a civilian employee in Nichols Air Base, Pasay City, Philippines to take care of her children. She spent most of her life caring for them, and was the guiding light through their adulthood, and the pillar in her household.
She immigrated with her husband to the US in 1991, resided in Guam for almost a decade, where she worked mostly in the hotel industry in the food service department. In 2000, she and her husband moved to California to be with the rest of their children, who were also immigrating to the US at that time.
She was admired and loved by everyone who knew her, a beautiful person not only physically but inside. She was very caring, kind, and generous to everyone, especially to her nieces and nephews and relatives, who needed her help … no matter how little she had.
She is survived by her husband, Eduardo, and children (and spouses), Eric (Jean), Melchor, Arlene (Alex), Jim (Sylvia), Gilbert (Jaz), and Dinah (Rommel), and grandchildren, Clarence May, Christian, Kenneth, Vincent, Leilani, and Gwen Felicity; and her sister, Angelita Bustos.
A beautiful angel gone to heaven… Ising, you will be greatly missed.
