Ella Leatherwood Abernathy, 86 of Chattanooga, passed away Saturday, December 10, 2016 at her residence. She was a member of Mt. Ollie Primitive Baptist Church, where she served on the Mother’s Board. She retired from Erlanger Medical Center as a CNA, as well as The Chambliss Children’s Home. She was preceded in death by her parents; 6 brothers; and 1 sister. Survivors include her husband, Theodore Abernathy, Sr.; sons, Theopria Leatherwood (Edna Freeman) of Chattanooga and Earl (Sandra) Leatherwood of Smith Station, AL; daughter, Ruby (Roosevelt) Blanks; stepchildren, Charles Abernathy, Gloria Appling, Revera Abernathy, Theodore Abernathy, Jr., and Jan Abernathy, all of Chattanooga; 11 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; sister, Martha Hobbs of Toney, AL; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives; special friend, Jessie Boone and many other friends.

Visitation is Monday, December 19, 2016 at 12 noon in the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be Monday, December 19, 2016 at 1 p.m. in the chapel with Elder James Leslie as the eulogist. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery.
