Edward Tyrone Acklin, 78, of Chattanooga, passed away Thursday, November 30, 2017 at his residence. He was a 1957 graduate of Howard High School and received his Bachelor of Science degree from University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He was a member of Second Missionary Baptist Church. Edward retired from Norfolk Southern railway as a conductor. He was also a pilot and a member of the Black Pilots Association. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Acklin; mother, Samantha Gregory; wife, Kathryn Beverly Acklin. Survivors include his son, Anthony (Amanda) Acklin; granddaughter, Ava Acklin, all of Atlanta, GA; sister, Regina Acklin of New York; several nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. Graveside service will be Thursday, December 7, 2017 at 1 p.m. at Forest Hills Cemetery with Pastor Ernest Reid as eulogist. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Second Missionary Baptist Church in honor of Tyrone and Beverly Acklin Scholarship Fund. Arrangements made by Taylor Funeral Home of Chattanooga, Inc.

Visitation is Wednesday, December 6, 2017 from 6-7 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home.

Graveside service will be Thursday, December 7, 2017 at 1 p.m. at Forest Hills Cemetery with Pastor Ernest Reid as eulogist. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Second Missionary Baptist Church for the account of Tyrone and Beverly Acklin Scholarship Fund.
