Verna was employed as a Sewing Machine Operator at the former T&H Fashions, Kutztown, for seven years, retiring in 1993. She also worked in the same capacity at the former Kutztown Sportswear for over 20 years. Verna was a member of Order of the Eastern Star, East Penn Chapter #336, Kutztown. She enjoyed backing, sewing and crocheting.
She is survived by her daughter, Christine A. (Spohn), wife of Elmer M. High, Lenhartsville; two grandchildren, Jennifer P. (High) Dierolf, and Joshua E. High; one great-grandson, Joseph Leroy High; and a nephew, Randall W. Miller. In addition to her husband and parents, Verna was predeceased by a sister, Myrtle (Angstadt) Wolinsky.
A funeral service to celebrate Verna's life will be held on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, with Reverend Mary Ann Hamm officiating. An order of Eastern Star service will precede the service at 10:45 a.m. Burial will follow in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Fleetwood. Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing on Thursday morning from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. in the funeral home.
