Gerald Wiley Horton Jr., age 69, of Temperance, passed away with his loving wife by his side on November 2, 2018. Gerald was born November 10, 1948 in Toledo, Ohio to Gerald and Gladys (Alberry) Horton.

He served two tours in Vietnam with the First Air Cavalry from 1967 to 1971. He had a great love for the Casino, his home away from home. He also enjoyed the dirt track and spent a few years racing. Jerry also spent lots of time with his grandchildren, teaching them to fish, shoot guns, and work on cars. During his down time he loved watching NASCAR and the Ohio State Buckeyes. Following his service in the Army he continued his skill in Truck driving for many years. He has over 8 million safe miles under his belt. Jerry was loved by many and would give the shirt off his back to help anyone.

In addition to his parents, Gerald was also preceded in death by his in-laws, Charlie and Edna Crabtree; Grandchildren Dylan Michael Andrzejewski, and Elizabeth Horton.

He will be greatly missed by his wife Deborah of 47 years; Daughters, Tina (Mike) Andrzejewski, Gerri (Chris) Ery, Stacy (Matt) Weiss; Son, Joshua (Stephanie) Horton; Brother, Terry Horton; Sister, Sue (David) Delaney; Grandchildren, Damien, Eric, Tabitha, Shade, Kayden, Dakota, Jessica, Christopher, Tiahna, Tysan, Teagan, Joshua, Samuel, Christopher; Great- Grandchildren; Deacon, RayLeeMae, Jacklyn; Best Friend Ralph Mussehl and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family will receive guests Friday, November 9, 2018 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Newcomer Northwest Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419) 473-0300. Funeral Services will begin Saturday at 11:00 am. at the funeral home followed by an internment service at Toledo Memorial Park, Sylvania.A Pillar in Bedford Township, survived many struggles through life, having served 2 1/2 tours in Vietnam he lived with the horrors of war every day w flashbacks, and developed the “Agent Orange” from the chemical warfare used while he was on the ground. Jerry spent lots of time with his grandchildren, teaching them to fish, shoot guns, bowl, golf, and work on cars as he did with his own children. When he wasn’t busy with family time he spent great fun with his best friend Ralph Mussehl. In his down time he loved watching NASCAR and the Ohio State Buckeyes. Following his service in the Army he continued his skill in Semi tractor trailer truck driving for many years with Ryder, Abitibi-Price, Abtco Trucking from which he was awarded awards for having OVER 8 million safe miles under his belt, that’s very impressive for that field and every day life. Jerry is loved by many and would help those in need by giving his shirt off his own back. In addition to his parents, Gerald was preceded in death by his in-laws Charlie and Edna (Asbury) Crabtree, grandchildren Elizabeth Horton, and Dylan Michael Andrzejewski. He will be greatly mourned and missed by his wife Deborah of 47 years; Daughters Tina (Mike) Andrzejewski, Gerri (Chris) Ery, Stacy (Matthew) Weiss; Son Joshua (Stephanie) Horton; Brother Terry Horton, Sister Carole Sue (David) Delaney; Grandchildren Damien, Eric, Tabitha, Tiahna, Dakota, Tysan, Jessica, Shade, Christopher Jr., Teagan, Joshua, Samuel, Kayden, Christopher ; Great-Grandchildren Deacon, RayLeeMae, Jacklyn; Best Friend Ralph Mussehl and many many nieces, nephews, friends, and acquaintances.
