Robert married Dolores Ruth Lairsen on December 26, 1949. She preceded him in death October 21, 1993.
He married Nancy Lauer Gleason June 17, 1995 and she preceded him in death September 3, 2017.
He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, his daughter, Diane Benton-Peeples and a stepson, Scott Gleason.
