Joseph Leonard Abbate (Joey) of Chicago, born on January 26th, 1957, and passed away at 61 years of age, peacefully in his home on October 19th, 2018. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, the late Marie and Joseph Abbate, and Wanda and Stanley Niemiec. Joe was the devoted and much loved husband to Christina (Chris) Abbate for 34 years, a marriage that produced four beautiful, loving and much loved children, Nicole (Patrick, CPD) McGrath, Joseph Abbate, Michelle Abbate (Jake Meyer) and Krystyn Abbate. He was Dear Papa to Margaret Grace, Francis Richard and Patrick Thomas, Jr. McGrath. Joe was the adoring Brother of Lenore (Louie) Speciale, Leonard (Maria Abbate), Nanci Abbate, Annette (Arthur) Feldman and Mario (Marie) Abbate. Devoted brother-in-law to Josephine Cutro. Joe was a loving Uncle to many nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews; a great fun, loving cousin to many and a true friend, story teller and comedian to a vast array of people lucky enough to be called his friends. Joseph was a loyal, proud and devoted City of Chicago worker belonging to Teamsters Local 700. Visitation Wednesday from 3:00 to 9:00 P.M. at Cumberland Chapels (FRIEL FUNERAL DIRECTORS) 8300 W. Lawrence Ave., Norridge. Funeral Services Begin: Thursday 9:00 A.M. at the Funeral Home and will proceed to Immaculate Conception Church. Funeral Mass 10:00 A.M., Interment All Saints Cemetery.
