DYING, HE CONFESSES
Syrian Fruit Dealer Admits to Killing His Cousin
First Told Suicide Story
Cousin Invaded Fillah's Store and Shot Him, and FIllah, Fatally Wounded, Took Pistol Away from Assailant and Killed Him - Grief stricken Relatives Mourn Over Two Dead Bodies.
With his last breath Oscar Fillah, the Syrian fruit dealer who died Saturday at the Emergency Hospital from wounds received in an altercation with his cousin, Antonious Abdo on Friday, confessed to his mother and relatives kneeling about his bed that he had shot Tony and that the original story he had given out. that the cousin had shot himself in the event that he should recover.
….
The bodies now lie side by side in a room of the Fillahs' dwelling, 1203 New York avenue. Their caskets are covered with great clusters of flowers…
The mother of the dead man, with about thirty women relatives and near friends, sat in the room weeping and praying yestrerya.
The funeral will take place to-day at 2 o'clock. The services which will be conducted according to the Greek ritual by the priest of the Greek church in this city, will be held at the house. The burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery. The boys will be buried in the same grave, and one service will be conducted for the two…
The mother of Filliah is broken hearted, and the general feeling among the relatives is one of greatest anguish, for as one of them said last evening, Such a thing as killing one's cousin never happens in Syria, it is awful.
Tony Abdo, who was the first to shoot, was a man of extremely quiet habits. He never showed temper, but was of a morose, sullen disposition. He had very little to do with his relatives, and for months had not been near them…
Tony Abdo's parents are in the old country, but he was raised from babyhood by his aunt, a sister of Mrs Sattu FIllah, who also resides at 1203 New York avenue. She loved the boy as her own, and is almost beside herself with grief, and like her sister, has touched no food since the tragedy occurred.
