Louise Elizabeth Baxa, daughter of Milek and Mary Kalivoda Baxa, was born May 17, 1917, near Belleville, and died January 6, 2003, at the Armour Home in Kansas City, MO, at the age of 85

She attended rural schools in Republic County and graduated from Belleville High School in 1935. After high school, she received her normal training and taught in several rural schools throughout the county.

In 1945, she moved to Junction City and lived and worked there for ten years. In 1955, she moved to the Kansas City area, where she was employed many years as a bookkeeper for a large law firm.


She was a member of the St. Edwards Catholic Church while living in the Belleville area and was a member of Visitation Catholic Church in Kansas City.

Baxa was preceded in death by her parents; step-father Orin Johnson; and her sister, Emma Kathryn. She is survived by nieces, nephews, and many cousins.

Services were held January 11, at St. Edwards Catholic Church in Belleville, with Fathers Ralph Aschenbrenner, Steve Heina, and Henry Baxa officiating. Burial was in St. Katherine cemetery, rural Belleville.
