James N. Needham, 74, of Las Cruces, died Wednesday, May 9, 2007. He was born Aug. 30, 1932 in Deer Lodge, Tennessee, to Laban and Myrtle Spurling Needham. James was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served his country honorably during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school. He also ministered to the residents of Cottonbloom Retirement Village. An avid pilot and along with his wife were the owners of A Business Connection here in Las Cruces. Mr. Needham will be deeply missed by all his family and friends who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Dorothy Needham of the family home; son James Needham II and wife Cindy of Mt. Prospect, Ill; daughters Betty Owings and husband John, Laura Needham and Diana Needham all of Las Cruces; brother Laban Needham and wife Janice of Rogers, Arkansas; grandchildren John Owings and wife Danielle and Roberta Granger and husband Jeremy; great-grandchildren Willow Owings and Zoie Granger and by many nieces, nephews and cousins. His two brothers and a sister preceded James in death.
Funeral Services to celebrate Mr. Needham's life will be at 10 a.m. on Monday at Cornerstone Baptist Church with Pastor Doug Cowan officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery with military honors.
Pallbearers will be members of James' family and friends.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Cornerstone Baptist Church Building Fund, 576 N. Telshor, Las Cruces, NM 88011 (505) 532-0902.
