Patrick H. Crowe, 81, an Irish Catholic Democrat, passed away September 21, 2018, at home from complications related to melanoma. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday, September 27, at St. Elizabeth Church, 2 E. 75th St., Kansas City, MO. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to either one of: The Learning Club of Kansas City, 2203 Parallel Ave, Kansas City, KS 66104 (https://www.learningclubkck.org/) or Operation Breakthrough, P.O. Box 412482, Kansas City, MO 64141 (https://operationbreakthrough.org/).
Patrick was born June 23, 1937 in Minneapolis, MN to Michael P. and Claire (Huesman) Crowe. As he often remarked, he and his brother Mike both graduated the University of Notre Dame seventh in their class; Mike was seventh from the top. He received a Master's degree in mathematics from Washington University, and he went on to teach mathematics at high schools and colleges across the Kansas City area. He was also a successful entrepreneur and an author of eight books. Patrick was known for his deep generosity, his irreverent sense of humor, his advocacy for people who needed him, and his ability to describe in detail every one of the more than 60 cars he ever owned. His 15 minutes of fame came in 2008 when he campaigned for Oprah to run for president, a wish he held onto until the end of his life.
Patrick was preceded in death by his parents. [Survivor names redacted.]
He will be deeply missed by his many friends and by all whose lives he touched. May his memory be a blessing. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.muehlebachchapel.com
