LINDENHURST, Ill. — Margaret C. Estle, 99, of Lake Forest, Antioch and Lake Villa, Ill., died Friday, Sept. 14, 2018, at The Village at Victory Lakes in Lindenhurst.

Graveside memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Keene (Neb.) Cemetery with the Rev. Matt Snell officiating. Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege is in charge of arrangements.

She was born Nov. 18, 1918, in Keene to Oscar and Anna (Hansen) Smith.

On March 22, 1938, she married Glen Estle in Keene. He died Nov. 14, 2007.

Survivors include her daughters, Susan Jones of New Lisbon, Wis., and Carolyn Byers of Grand Marais, Minn.; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.Margaret C. Before her retirement in 1985, Margaret worked as a grade school teacher for 30 years, retiring from the Grove Elementary School, Northbrook, IL. She loved to travel and had sponsored high school students on trips to Europe. Her most loved trip was the three-month road trip she and Glen took from Antioch, making a circle trip that included Yellowstone National Park, Washington, Oregon, California, and Texas. Margaret was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Lake Forest, was active with the Illinois Teacher Association, and enjoyed reading, playing bridge at the Antioch Senior Center, sewing, crafts, traveling to the cabin in northern Minnesota, and working the polls on election day. On March 22, 1938 she married Glen Estle in Keene, NE and he preceded her in death on November 14, 2007.

She is survived by her two daughters, Susan (Gary) Jones of New Lisbon, WI and Carolyn (Arden) Byers of Grand Marais, MN; her four grandchildren, Jason, Joel, Kirk, and Eric; her seven great-grandchildren, Bradley, Sean, Katie, Jamen, Emma, Ava, and Becca; and many several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Margaret was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Paul Smith.

Memorial Visitation will be held from 6:00PM until 8:00PM Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at the STRANG FUNERAL HOME OF ANTIOCH, 1055 Main St. Antioch, IL 60002. Interment of ashes will take place at 11:00AM Saturday, September 29, 2018 in Keene Cemetery, Keene, NE. For additional information, call 847-395-4000.
