Philip Lewis Alston
AKA The Spanish records list him as:
Phelipe Luis Alston

Philip was born sometime in 1740/1741 in NC nobody has an exact date
And died in 1809 in Petit Gulf, Pickering Jefferson County Mississippi or at least that is where he said he lived in the court documents from 1808.

Most People confuse Our Philip Alston with his first cousin Philip Alston the Wig, Such as Todd Carr did in his book Cave in Rock. He is talking about our Philip Alston, but mixing in all the facts of his first cousin Col. Philip Alston too at the same time. I wish I could speak to Mr. Carr someday and hopefully have him correct this so as everyone knows not only the suspected bad, but the Noble good as seen through the eyes of a British Tory at the time. These kinds of mistakes, written about have influenced Wikipedia as well who is un-willing to correct the mistakes and serrate the first cousins. They also confuse his and his first cousin's birthdate and death date with him Col. Philip Alston b. Feb 18th 1740/41 d. 1791 shot in his bed while sleeping. Who was the son of his Philip Alston's Uncle Joseph John Alston and Elizabeth Chancey. Col. Philip Alston the Patriot was the one who was in the Regular War against William Tryon, which preceded the Revolution.
See the University of NC page for his 1st cousin's page on His 1st cousin, so you can see they are two separate people!

Our Philip Alston "The Counterfeiter" Is not my description of him, he was never convicted of any of these crimes. He was however in the uprising against the Spanish, because he was ordered to by British General John Campbell. he was a Loyalist and Tory to heart and was only following orders! He was brave and miss-remembered and wrote about in American history!

Philip Alston was born to
Solomon Alston Sr. and his wife Sarah "Nancy" Ann Hinton.
Note: Solomon is the proven brother to Joseph John Alston of Horseshoe Bend. Who also had a son named Col. Philip Alston who was a Wig and Patriot and political figure in and after the Revolution. This is not our line how ever and many mix the two first cousin's up, including Wikipedia and the books.
Col. Philip Alston was married to Temperest Smith and Mary Molly Temple.
Our Philip Alston was married only once to Milly McCoy daughters of John McCoy and Alce last name unknown and suggested to be NA. but no proof has yet been found. Another one of Alec's other children as well moved to Colonial Ga. Alce McCoy who was the first wife of Zachariah Fenn/Fann Native American Trader. Fenn bought Milly's share of her father's land when her mother died. He also bought some of Philip Alston's Colonial Ga. land from Philip just prior to him moving to Natchez......From my research. Yes I have the documents on all this!

Philip lived in Colonial Georgia between the years of 1763 and 1771, Then he removed to Natchez (British West Florida) His cousin Col. Philip Alston his cousin was the one who lived in Raleigh North Carolina during the Revolution!
One of the first cousins was a Wig and the other was a Tory. These are two separate sides of the war and the two first cousins lived in two separate areas of the country when it was going on and after it went on!

I have so much more Facts not fiction, proving his true caricature and conduct. Contact me for details and join the search with me!

Description below was not added by myself.
This description was left in to show appreciation for the person who created the memorial for letting me manage my 5th Gr Grandfather's Grave Memorial. For this I thank them! and left it (The statement below) in for that reason.

"American Outlaw". Philip Alston was an 18th-century counterfeiter, river pirate, criminal gang leader, planter, thief, land speculator, soldier, politician, tavern keeper, salt maker, fur trader, banker, businessman, teacher, preacher, farmer, and Empresario whose exploits are told in the books, "The Outlaws of Cave-In-Rock", "The History of Russellville and Logan County, Ky", "History of Union County, Kentucky", "History of Alabama, and Incidentally of Georgia and Mississippi, from the Earliest Period", and "The Natchez Court Records, 1767-1805". After 1799, Philip Alston worked out of Spanish Louisiana Territory to work as an Empresido of Mexico, a government official in New Madrid, Missouri issue land grants to settlers and then disappeared from the historical records. Natchez, Mississippi court records make reference to him as late as 1809. Note an Empresido is a person who sold land for the Spanish Gov. in the 1700's
Note: Philip Alston did not move to Spanish Territory, but rather worked out of Spanish territory selling land.

My comments and documents provide this information, below:
I suspect he died in 1809 the last reference I found on him was in 1809 Where he along with James Dromgoole one of his son in laws, were appraising an estate in 1809 Both signed the document.

Another record listed him as dyeing in 1809, and the estate suing The Gilbert heirs, another son in-law.

There is also the Supreme Court Ruling over his land, which I have a copy of.

Thank you for reading!
