She had taken her children to see Santa, along with a neighbor, on the morning of December 10. She had already bought and wrapped the children's Christmas presents, ready to be put out Christmas morning. Around 3 AM on the morning of December 11th Millie's husband awoke, read a mystery novel, got his handgun and shot Millie, asleep on the sunporch, once in the head. He then went to where each child was asleep and shot them, too. He then committed suicide.
