Billy accepted Christ at his Savior at an early age and was baptized at Glenn Chapel C.M.E. Church, Columbus, MS. In February 2011, he became and active member of Northside Church of God in Milwaukee, WI, WI under the leadership of Reverend Dr. Sandy Johnson and remained a member until his passing.
He received his formal education at Robert E. Hunt High in Columbus, MS. In 1964, during Billy's Senior year of High School, he enlisted in the United States Army. He served in the Vietnam War and was stationed in Korea. After completing four years in the United States Army, he moved to Grand Rapids, MI with his family where he continued his education at Davenport Business College.
In1959, Billy met Irma "Jean" Weaver, who became his loving wife on May 17th, 1965. "Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favor in the Lord"- Proverb 18:22. They embarked on 52 years of marriage. During this union, they raised four ambitious children together. With his listening ear, magnetic personality, savvy business knowledge, Billy mastered array of different talents. Due to his ability to relate to any and everyone, he as a strong father figure to many during his lifetime.
During the course of his life, Billy worked in a variety of different employment setting until he found his career as a salesman. While living in Grand Rapids, MI, he was employed with Coca-Cola Company; he was transferred to Milwaukee, WI due to a promotion as the first African American District Sales manager. In this position, he went into the inner city where he met many of Milwaukee's influential people and built everlasting relationships that lasted a lifetime. Billy had a magnetic personality that attracted everyone he met to him. He was very sociable, smart and could relate to anyone. He was a pioneer and a great business man who could "sell a fly swatter to a fly". Billy continued his career at Brinks Inc. where he retired as a Vault Supervisor in 2002.
Billy Peoples transcended this world and found rest in the Lord eternally on August 3, 2017. His Son Reginald Peoples, Sr., Mother Rose Peoples, Father Willie B. Hill, Step-Mother Josie Cain Hill, Grandmother Virginia Bell, Brother James Franklin Peoples, Grandsons Reginald Tyshon Peoples Jr. and Angel Peoples and Uncle Alonzo Peoples Sr. preceded him in eternity.
