Age 82, son of the late James Lacey and Matilda Mosher Lacey Hershey. Mr. Lacey was a member of the Coast Guard during WW 11 and later with the U.S .Marines. He was a City Of Erie firefighter for 33 years retiring in 1984. He started at Engine Co. 7 and later was stationed at Engine Companies 8, 13 and his favorite Company 3. He had been a Boy Scout leader for troop 72, and was a long time member of the Fort Erie Muzzleloaders. James was a member of the Grace Of Calvary Baptist Church.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his stepfather William Hershey, his first wife Freda Woodard Lacey, and his son Charles A. Lacey.

Survivors include his wife Marjorie Frame Harkness Lacey, two daughters Carol A. Gorniak, husband Thomas of Waterford, Dianne L. Pogue, husband Robert Steel of Bushwood, Md.; son James R. Lacey, wife Kristine of Pittsburgh; two brothers David Hershey, wife Sally of Springcreek and Robert Hershey of Erie; stepchildren Dennis Harkness, wife Darlene of Girard, Daniel Harkness, wife Nina of Erie, Jerry Harkness wife Eva of Meadville, Lynn Sherred husband Larry Cambridge Springs, Karen Coon of Syracuse and Bill Harkness wife Carol of North Carolina; 33 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
