He worked for the CNR for 25 years before his retirement. Boyd grew up in Osborne Corner and loved spending the summers in Hopewell Hill. He was a real Albert County boy who took a keen interest in the Steeves family history. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially gardening. He had a special place in his heart for animals and loved his many pets over the years. He was very proud of his sobriety and was a very active member of the AA Group for 26 years. "God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, Courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference."
He will be missed by his children; Sheldon Steeves (Nancy) of St. John's, NFLD, Jacqueline Beck (Mike) of Edgett's Landing, Stephen Steeves (Monique) of Riverview, Deborah Ellsmere (Edward) of Dartmouth, NS and Karen Hellenbrand (Uwe) of Reinbek, Germany. He will also be missed by the mother of his children, Margrethe Steeves of Riverview; by his 11 grandchildren and four great grandchildren; sister, Joan Gregory of Moncton; brother, Sheldon Steeves (Lois) of Riverview; and by his beloved friend Margaret Mills of Moncton.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Ted; half-sister, Laurie and half-brother, Raymond.
Honoring Boyd's own wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service. Interment will be held in the Albert Mines Cemetery, Albert Mines, NB. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Albert County Food Bank or the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital- Dialysis Unit would be greatly appreciated by the family. Arrangements are in the care of the Albert County Funeral Home, 4130 Route 114, Hopewell Cape, NB.
