Gary Jerome Smith Sr., 58, of Fairmont, passed from this life unexpectantly at his home Monday (Aug. 13, 2018). He was born in Baltimore, Maryland on Sept. 14, 1959, a son of the late Paul Thomas Smith II and Alvina A. Majewski Smith.
Gary was a humble man with a great sense of humor. He was adventurous, loved the outdoors, enjoyed wood crafts and music. He always had a smile. He rigorously practiced sports his whole life and was inspired by his home teams, the Baltimore Orioles and Ravens. He had currently played on a local WV softball team. He also loved Maryland seafood, especially oysters.
Mr. Smith is survived by his son, Gary J. Smith Jr. and his close friend Michelle Rush both of Fairmont; his fiancée, Charlotte Hayes of Fairmont; five brothers, Paul III, Steve, Wayne, Warren and Neil Smith; three sisters, Janice Smith, Mary Bloomburg and Karen Bryant along with respected spouses; also many nieces and nephews.
His cremains will be laid to rest at the Lake View Memorial Cemetery in Sykesville, Maryland on Tuesday, Aug. 21. There will be a memorial service for him here at Windmill Park at a date to be announced. Condolences may be sent to the family at [email protected].
