Mrs. Bembry was born to Raymond Elsworth and Ruth Harvey Haupt in Savannah, Georgia on August 22, 1916. Mrs. Bembry was the former restaurateur and business woman having run businesses in Hawkinsville and Brunswick, Georgia. In Brunswick, she owned two restaurants, the Court View Tea Room and the Tropical.
Mrs. Bembry spent 75 years of her life playing piano and organ for church services. She began playing for church before her feet could reach the pedals. Her belief in tithing back to God, her tremendous talent for music was well lived. Sarah was an extraordinary musician, and exemplary homemaker and cook, a devoted wife and mother, and a friend to many and served the community in which she lived.
For 42 years, Ms. Bembry was the faithful wife of R. Thomas Bembry of Hawkinsville and was the constant devoted mother to her two sons, Terry B. Horton of Warner Robins, GA. and Barry Haupt Horton of Hawkinsville.
