Ira Hooker Addair, 89, of Iaeger, died Sunday, April 29, 2007 at Princeton Community Hospital, Princeton, following a brief illness. A lifelong resident of McDowell County, she was born in Bartley, Aug. 16, 1917 a daughter of the late Ballard and Grace Cyphers Hooker. She attended Big Creek High School and graduated from Iaeger High School. She was a homemaker and a retired United States Postal Worker with 25 years of service at the Avondale Post Office. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Addair; a son, Robert G. Addair; and four brothers, Herman, Clarence, Elmo and William Hooker. Survivors include two sons, Jack Addair of Iaeger and Joseph Addair and wife Gail of Bandon, Ore.; four daughters, Mildred Murensky of Springfield, Va., Joyce Vinciguerra of Ashland, Ky., Linda Perdue and husband Richard of Roanoke, Va., and Wanda Crawford of Huntington; one sister, Blanche Shortridge of Tazewell, Va.; six grandchildren, Catherine Murensky of Leesburg, Va., Kimberly Stephens of Perryton, Texas, Michelle Vinciguerra of Bluefield, Jack Addair Jr. of Allegan, Mich., Mark Murensky of Greenville, N.C., and Robert Crawford of Huntington; six great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at 11 a.m. with the Reverend Burb Riffe officiating at the chapel of Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger. Burial will follow in the Riffe Cemetery on Short Ridge near Garland. Nephews and friends will serve as pallbearers. Arrangements by Fanning Funeral Home, Iager.
