Services for Charles V. "Vern" Williams, 68, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Inurnment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery at a later date.
Mr. Williams died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born May 14, 1938, in Rolla, Mo., the son of Charles E. and Florence Drew Williams.
He had lived in Lawrence since 1962.
Mr. Williams was an office clerk for Union Pacific Railroad for 43 years and a school bus driver for Laidlaw Co. since 2000.
He was a member of First Southern Baptist Church, Old Timer's Club of Kansas City, Kan., American Legion and Elk's Lodge.
He married Betty Meairs on March 14, 1965, in Lawrence. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include two daughters, Susan Moszeter, Lawrence, and Lorie Williams, Kuwait; four brothers, LeRoy and Bill, both of Union, Mo., Dean, Nixa, Mo., and Kevin, Kansas City Kan.; and five grandchildren.
The family will receive friends after the service.
The family suggests memorials to the Lawrence Memorial Hospital Oncology Department, sent in care of the mortuary.
