(nee Sandra Ann Durand) (Sandie) born to life May 18, 1949 (age 69) and received by God on July 25th to thank Him personally for the dark brown hair which she never dyed. After a valiant fight, Sandie lost her battle with ovarian cancer.

Sandie was the beloved daughter and only child of Gladys and Hector Durand who have preceded her in death. She is survived by numerous cousins and a family of dear friends, including dear companion of 17 plus years, Jerry Kirt, his son Joe, daughter- in- law Susan, and grandsons Landon and Luke to whom Sandie was known as GrannieSan. Also survived by dearest buddy, Chris M., the GOGs-Cathy H.,Debbie K. & Mary Lou M. ; the Original Friday Afternoon Group – Betsy G., Joyce Y., & Marie L.; the high school classmate mahjong group – Marlene P., Mary R. & Nancy K.; 1980’s Aerobic workout pals – Cathy L. & Sandy R.; personal nurse/high school pal, Terry H.; pseudo-daughter, Wendy C.; Friends of New Berlin Library Board Members and gift shop volunteers, especially Donna H., Kathy W. & Marion O.; my “new best friend” Marilyn B.; caring neighbors, especially Dawn B. and Nancy G., former flames from West Coast to East Coast-John L.,Peter W., Mikey W., Tom R., Ed G. , Mike C., Gary P.& Donald L., plus fabulous feline furballs Eli and Zeke. A special thanks to the caring staff of Courage Clinic at Froedtert Cancer Center – Dr. Janet Rader, Jaimie N. PA and nurse Lori L.

Sandie was a graduate of Notre Dame High School, UWM and Cardinal Stritch University. She taught fourth-grade students for over 30 years at Yorkville Elementary School, Union Grove, WI, often teaching second-generation pupils. Though she lived in the Milwaukee area her entire life, she traveled throughout the world, exploring numerous sites and enjoying the diversity of cultures.

Memorials may be made to any charity that helps an animal, benefits a child, or mends a broken heart. Godspeed Sandie, on your journey!

Visitation at Krause Funeral Home, 12401 West National Avenue, New Berlin, Wisconsin on Wednesday, August 1, from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM. A Toast and Remembrances at 7:00 PM. Additional visitation from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 2, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 12700 West Howard Avenue, New Berlin, Wisconsin. Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00. Entombment to follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery
