Jerome Sydnor McLane was the daughter of Donald Cecil and Hilah S. McLane, the younger of their two children. She had a brother, Maj. Donald Cecil McLane, Jr., USMC (Ret.)
On June 16, 1956, Jerome became the bride of Clarence Almus Balch in Washington, D.C. They were the parents of three children: Craig Alan, Randal McLane, and Christine Lee. The Balch family enjoyed a bi-coastal lifestyle, living on both the Pacific and Atlantic coasts during their 45 years of marriage.
The most telling way that shows a happy and successful marriage is when the widow or widower marries again. When in his sixth year as a widower, Clarence found a second chance at happiness when he married a second time.
Clarence Balch passed away seven years later, in 2014, in Murphreesboro, Tennessee. His place of burial is unknown at the present.
