Private funeral services will be held at Troy United Methodist Church. Rev. Judd Mowery and Rev. Joe Thorn will officiate. Burial will follow in Terrace Hill Cemetery near Troy.

Mrs. Harper was born November 2, 1921, in Troy, daughter of the late Hurt Glenn and Ruth (Hughes) Hopper. She graduated from The University of Tennessee School of Nursing in Memphis in 1943. Mrs. Harper was commissioned to the United States Navy Nurse Corp in 1944 and was called to active duty. Ms. Evelyn was stationed at Treasure Island Naval Hospital in San Francisco, California where she met and married Chief Hospital Corpsman Ed Harper in 1946. Mrs. Harper furthered her education by receiving her masters degree in nursing education from Indiana University. Ms. Evelyn touched the lives of students at Emory University in Atlanta, The University of Arkansas in Little Rock and The University of Tennessee at Martin where she retired as dean of the nursing program. Mrs. Harper was a member of Troy United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 71 years Ed Harper of Troy.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Glenn Brown Hopper and Leon Hopper.
