Daughter of Clyde Harrison Alspaugh and Alice Mimma Taylor Alspaugh. She graduated in 1941 at Dexter High School in Dexter, Missouri. She earned a B.S. degree in home economics education in 1945 from the University of Missouri. She taught home economics in Valley Park from 1945 to 1947 and in Ironton from 1947 to 1950. Mary Alice then took a position with the University of Missouri Extension Service as a area food and nutrition specalist. She earned her masters degree in extension education in 1978. Graduating with academic honors, she was recognized with membership in the Gamma Sigma Delta Honor Society of Agriculture. Mary Alice served over 32 years with the University of Missouri Extension, retiring in 1983. She was a member of the American Business Womens Association. She volunteered as a counselor with Seniors Organized To Restore Trust, helping to educate people and prevent Medicare fraud and abuse. She was an active member of the Keytesville United Methodist Church and an active member of the United Methodist Women for many years. She served as hostess of the General Sterling Price Museum and was a member of the Friends of Keytesville.
A memorial service was held at the Keytesville United Methodist Church with Pastor Glenna McVeigh officiating.
