Lower Burrell
Nicholas Abate, 63, of Lower Burrell, died Thursday, Nov. 17, 2005, in his residence. He was born Feb. 10, 1942, in New Kensington and was a life resident of the Valley. Mr. Abate worked in the shipping and receiving department of the former W.T. Grant store and was a member of St. Margaret Mary Church, Lower Burrell. He enjoyed the Steelers, wrestling, sports, bowling and walking. Surviving are his parents, Nick and Rose A. Catania Abate, with whom he made his home; sister, Rosemarie (James) Scheller, of Ohio Township; brother, David L. (Debra) Abate, of Lower Burrell; nephews, Jeff (Carrie) and Craig (Tricia) Scheller and Steven (Cletus) and Anthony Abate; niece, Leanna Abate, and six great-nephews and -nieces. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the RUSIEWICZ OF LOWER BURRELL FUNERAL HOME, 3124 Leechburg Road at Alder Street. Christian Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Monday in St. Margaret Mary Roman Catholic Church. Entombment will follow in the Greenwood Memorial Park mausoleum, Lower Burrell.
