Jane Alta (De Mallie) Army, 86, died Sunday, November 26, 2006, at U Mass Memorial Hospital in Boston. Her loving last husband Lawrence C. Army died in 1999.

She leaves two sons, J.R. Schmidt of Southbridge, Ma. and Bruce D. Holcomb of Glencoe, IL; 5 grandchildren; a niece and a nephew. She was predeceased by a sister Mrs. Priscilla De Mallie Matthews. Jane was born in Worcester daughter of John M. and Alta (Leary) De Mallie.

She was a graduate of North High and Salter Secretarial School. She was an active hospital volunteer and volunteered for the Cradle Adoption Center in Chicago. She was a former member of Westmoreland Country Club, Wilmett, IL.

She loved to travel and spend summers on Cape Cod at her houses in York Harbor, Maine. After cremation private graveside services will be held in Rural Cemetery. Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Patient Activity Fund, University Commons, 378 Plantation St. Worcester, Ma. 01605.

Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St is directing arrangements.
