Carolyn Benson, 86, of Grand Island passed away on June 27, 2018. Carolyn was born on Dec. 30, 1931, to Pete and Virginia Stanker. She grew up in Wyoming and after high school she moved to Scottsbluff, where she worked as a telephone operator. She married Richard C. Outson (1932-1984) on Nov. 11, 1955. They lived in Gering. To this union were born three children: Kelly Ray, Mark Steven, and Kathy Kay. She married Virgil Benson on Nov. 25, 1995, and lived in Grand Island until the time of her death. Carolyn enjoyed her family, flower gardening and caring for the family pets. No memorial or funeral services are planned. All Faiths Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Virgil; her children and spouses, Mark Outson (Chantal) of Meriden, Kan., and Kathy Sauser (Jake) of Lomira, Wis; stepchildren, Eric Benson (Jeanette) of Grand Island and Marlys Gookin (Randy) of Elk Grove, Calif.; 13 grandchildren/stepgrandchildren and four great-grandchildren and stepgrandchildren; and her brother, Robert "Bob" Stanker of Wyoming. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard; a son, Kelly; and a brother, Ronald.
