ღ GG~Grandfather ღ

Albert was the son of Enoch and Ann "Nancy" Mansfield Rust. Albert was born December 29, 1824 in Campbell County, Kentucky, USA, and he married first Martha Cole, then married Sarah Ann "Sallie" Hess. Sallie being my GG~Grandmother.
NOTE: This is not the Albert G. Rust who married Nancy Ann E. "Ann" Richardson. Nancy's son Charles lived to be married and have children of his own. The members of that family are all buried in another cemetery.

First Wife Martha Cole.
Albert's first wife was Martha Cole who he married on December 22, 1839 in Gallatin, Kentucky, USA.
Known children of Albert and Martha Cole Rust are:

1) Catherine Elizabeth Rust, born March 10, 1840 in Gallatin, Kentucky, USA; death was on August 21, 1926 in Covington, Kenton County, Kentucky, USA. She married Elbert Sutton.

2) Thomas M Rust, born ABT 1843 in Gallatin, Kentucky, USA; death date unknown at this time, his death is reported to have taken place in Clay, Indiana, USA. Thomas married Sarah Ferguson.

3) Mary Jane Rust was born in 1846 in Gallatin, Kentucky, USA, and was the daughter of Albert G. "AL" "Arkansas" Rust and Martha Cole Rust. Mary Jane married Ballard Love on September 1, 1864 in Gallatin, Kentucky, USA in the residence of Elbert and Catherine Elizabeth Rust Sutton, Catherine Elizabeth being Mary's elder sister. At this time Mary Jane went by her first and middle name, and at the time was known as Mary Jane Love (or Mary Rust Love) by others. Ballard Love's parents were Fleming Love (1806-1887) and Susan Love (1808-1893), both parents buried in Missouri.
Ballard died October 8, 1868 in Moniteau, Missouri, USA. After the Civil war ended Ballard and Mary Jane likely remained settled in or around Moniteau, Missouri, USA, near where his parents were living and where Ballard passed away. He passed away only a little over 4 years after he married Mary Jane.

Now Sylvanus and Mary Jane are both living back in Kentucky again and marry on December 15, 1873 in Kenton County, Kentucky, USA. Mary Jane began going by the name of Jane, and was known as Jane Love-Rust. She died in 1904 in Tennessee, USA. Sylvanus married a second time. Sylvanus, and later passed away April 30, 1927 in Davidson County, Tennessee, USA in the Davidson County Asylum for the Aged, Insane and Destitute; Marital Status listed as Widowed (he was widowed from Mary Jane, but not his second wife); Occupation listed as Farmer.

So far there are no available cemetery burial records yet to be been found for Mary Jane's first husband Ballard Love, nor for the second wife of Sylvanus Rust.
I believe this is correct when researching and studying the documents for Mary Jane, Ballard, and Sylvanus.

This so ends the story as best I can figure out on Mary Jane Rust Love-Rust, the daughter of Albert G. "AL" "Arkansas" and Martha Cole Rust, which has been a mystery for the family for many years on what exactly became of our Mary Jane.
4) Martha Ann Rust, born on August 3, 1848 in Gallatin, Kentucky, USA; death was on January 14, 1915 in Covington, Kenton County, Kentucky, USA.

Albert's first wife Marth passed away some time just after August 31, 1850 likely in Gallatin, Kentucky, USA.

Second Wife Sarah Ann "Sallie" Hess.
Albert married his second wife Sarah Ann "Sallie" Hess on December 31, 1850 in Gallatin, Kentucky, USA. The known children of Albert and Sarah Hess Rust:

1) William James Rust or also known by some as James William Rust, born December 15, 1851 in Gallatin County, Kentucky, USA; death was on February 19, 1923 in Walton, Boone County, Kentucky, USA. James was born as William James Rust, but at some time he began to be known as James William Rust, and the name change is seen on legal documents, though he is still listed as the son of Albert and Sarah. I believe this change likely occurred when people would write the names as James William, Rust (middle name first name, last name), and the issue began when the comma was left out by clerks who recorded the information. William, or James, married Elizabeth Ellen Willeford.

2) Charles Rust, born September 16, 1852 in Kenton County, Kentucky, USA; death was January 31, 1854 in Kenton County, Kentucky, USA. May this sweet child rest in peace.

3) Angeline "Anna" "Annie" Rust, born December 24, 1857 in Steele Creek, Gallatin County, Kentucky, USA; death was on August 2, 1934 in Norwood, Hamilton County, Ohio, USA. Angeline married Henry Simpson in 1885, and was his second wife. Henry's first wife was Luta (?) Simpson who passed away in 1882.
4) Alexander "Alex" Rust, born in September 1859 in Gallatin County, Kentucky, USA; death was October 27, 1897 in Glencoe, Payne County, Oklahoma, USA. Alexander married Amanda Elma "Lollie" Bell.

Note that there are conflicting dates for Alexander's birth and death. The headstone dates are incorrect. According to Fairlawn Cemetery the records state Alex was buried in 1897, but the family plot was purchased on June 29, 1895. Info was provided by Fairlawn. The headstone itself states 1889, but that cannot be possible since Alex and Lollie had 3 children with the last child Walter being born in 1894. Walter is seen listed as a Rust in future census records with William Hesser and Lollie. After the death of Alex, Lollie married William Hesser.
It is also safe to say one cannot make up a child to exist as being 10 months old on an 1860 Federal Census taken on July 3rd. Also, one cannot hide the size of an infant being about 10 months old. Also, one cannot have children with a deceased husband, so it can be said the date of 1897 for Alex's death is correct, and his son Walter being listed as a Rust was born in 1894 is absolutely correct.

5) Serena J. "Rena" Rust, born March 25, 1862 in Covington, Kenton County, Kentucky, USA; death was December 1, 1877 in Covington, Kenton County, Kentucky, USA.

6) Mary Elizabeth "Eliza" Rust, born February 24, 1864 in Gallatin County, Kentucky, USA; death was on October 27, 1934 in Boone County, Kentucky, USA. Mary married James Polk Hamilton in 1887.
7) John M. Rust, born February 24, 1864 in Gallatin County, Kentucky, USA; death was on January 11, 1927 in Boone County, Kentucky, USA.

Also, Albert was enlisted into the Confederate Army in 1863-64 under the command of Captain G. W. Berry. Captain G.W. berry was also provost marshal of the 6th Military District of Kentucky in 1863, and Captain and colonel of the Harrison County Home Guards in 1864. The 6th Military District of Kentucky consisted of Kenton, Campbell, and Boone counties. It was said Albert also served for a time under General Brigadier Arkansas Rust of Texas while he was commissioned in Kentucky. It has been said Albert thought him to be such a man of honor and integrity that it was an honor itself to serve under his command for a short time. He so admired GB Arkansas Rust that he took on his first name as a nickname, and many did call Albert by his nickname of "Arkansas," which may be where the confusion comes in that leads many to believe Sarah Ann Hess married GB Arkansas Rust, which she did not. Albert was also known to use his nickname of "Arkansas" on legal papers such as census records for a time. Oh, if Grandpa Albert only knew the confusion he has caused for many years later due to his zeal and great respect for a man he found to be of great honor.

May GG~Grandpa Albert rest in the eternal peace of our loving Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
