William Cearing Lardin was the son of Daniel E. Lardin and Harriet Agnes Peters Lardin. He graduated from Butler High School in 1904, and married Nellie Emily Wilson on April 16, 1907. They had five children: Hannah Elizabeth Lardin; Daniel Wilson Lardin; Arthur Rupert Lardin; Helen Louise Lardin, and William Cearing Lardin, Jr. who died as an infant.

William went into the jewelry business with his father in 1912, and designed exquisite jewelry. Later in life, he was the justice of the peace in Butler County.

He died December 27, 1942 from Colon cancer.
