Michael A. Ziemke was called home to his Heavenly Father early the morning of June 21, 2018, after a year long battle with cancer. He was born to William and Marilyn (Bernt) Ziemke on July 14, 1968. Mike was baptized and confirmed in the Zion Lutheran Church in Thayer just west of the family farm. Mike attended Centennial Public School where he excelled in all academics and sports. After high school, Mike earned his associate's degree in diesel mechanics and technology through Southeast Community College, Milford Campus.

Mike married the love of his life, Shelli Hejna, on July 20, 1990. They enjoyed their passion of traveling and raising their family through their 27 years together. Mike spent his early years pulling wrenches on agricultural diesel equipment for local John Deere dealerships and then for Vermeer in Las Vegas where they lived for seven years. After returning home he moved behind the parts counter where he continued to enjoy meeting new people and talking with old friends, first for John Deere dealerships then to Kenworth and on to Peterbilt.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, William; grandparents and father-in-law, Frank Hejna.
