Joseph P "Joe" Watts Born: Sunday, October 30, 1932 Died: Wednesday, June 13, 2018 CASSATT – A memorial service for Joseph P. “Joe” Watts, 85, will be held on Monday, June 18, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. The Rev. Mat Mims will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. Following the service a burial for Mr. and Mrs. Watts will be held in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Mr. Watts, husband of 59 years to the late Shelby Rodgers Watts, passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2018. Born on October 30, 1932 in Lake View, S.C., he was the son of the late Joseph F. Watts and Rosa Belle Hill Watts. Mr. Watts was a dedicated member of Beaverdam Baptist Church. He enjoyed golfing and was an avid gardener. He had a love for all animals. His last pet was a cat, Baby, who he treasured. Mr. Watts retired from Kendall and continued his work as an accountant at home. Surviving are his daughters, Elizabeth W. ‘Libby” Cork (John) and Lynn Gamble; son, Roger Perry Munn; grandchildren, Lauren E. Cork, Kristian Gamble, Brandon Gamble, Michael Cales and Matthew Cales; great-grandchild, Gray L. Gamble; and siblings, Cola Magdelene Cook, Shirley Jean Miller, Sarah Alice Arnett, and Kathleen Little. He was predeceased by siblings, Leroy Watts, Ella Hutchin, Henry Watts, and Charles Watts. The family would like to thank Tess Jones, a special friend, who took wonderful care of Shelby and Joe until their passing.
