Age 27

Just before noon on 28 September 2006, Polk County Deputy Doug Speirs pulled over a speeding rental car bearing Kentucky tags in Lakeland, Florida. That vehicle was being driven by Angilo Freeland, a 27-year-old Antiguan man who had been arrested on various charges in 1999 but had afterwards skipped bail.

Angilo ran, thinking that the warrant for the old arrest was still valid. (It wasn't.) He hid, while Deputy Speirs called for backup. Deputy Matt Williams and his police dog, DiOGi, were dispatched.

Angilo killed the police dog, and killed Deputy Williams, a 39 year old father of 3. When his body was located later, his gun and bullets were gone.

Angilo hid overnight. The next day when, he was found after an all-night manhunt, and he aimed for the 10-member SWAT team who found him, the SWAT team fired at him numerous times, and killed him.

He was hit 68 times, and one of his hands was shot off.
Murderer. Angilo Freeland was suspected of fatally shooting a deputy sheriff and his police dog during a traffic stop. He was also suspected of wounding another deputy and shooting at two other police officers before escaping into a nearby wooded area.

The 21 hour manhunt ended when Freeland was found hiding in brush under a fallen tree. He refused and failed to surrender as he diplayed a gun belonging to the murdered deputy, he was hit 68 times out of 110 rounds by 9 SWAT members.

A suspected drug trafficker, Freeland had been arrested by the Florida Highway Patrol in 1999 on charges of not having a valid drivers license, reckless driving, aggravated fleeing to elude, resisting arrest without violence and carrying a concealed weapon.
