Irene Mary Pilewski Andres, 85, formerly of Spruce Street and Halyday Run Road, went to be with the Lord at 1:15 am Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at the Golden Living Center, Oil City, where she had been a resident, after a lengthy illness.

Born September 4, 1922 in Oil City, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Clara Luczkowiak Pilewski.

Mrs. Andres was a 1941 graduate of Oil City High School and served on the reunion committee. From August 1943 until November 1945 she served in the Women's Reserve of the United States Navy in the Headquarters of the Commander in Chief, US Fleet and in the Office of Naval Operations, assigned as secretary to the Flag Secretary and later as secretary to the Administrative Aide to the Chief of Naval Operations stationed in Washington DC.

Mrs. Andres worked for Ed Walz Home and Auto Supply as a bookkeeper prior to being an integral part of the family business, Andres Bakery from 1945 until its closing in 1974.

She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, crocheting, embroidery and being with family and friends. Mrs. Andres was totally devoted to her family.

She was a member of the Assumption BVM Church, where she was in the choir, the Rosary Society and the Assumption Golden Agers. While living near Trinity United Methodist Church she attended services there. Mrs. Andres belonged to several local school PTAs and the Senior Center.

On September 10, 1945 at Assumption BVM Church she was married to Henry A. Andres, who survives.

Also surviving are seven children, Rose Marie Ulrich and husband Joseph of Smithsburg MD, Eugene Andres and wife Patricia of South Euclid OH, Kathryn (Kathy) McBride and Steve Brzezinski of Oil City, Larry Andres and wife Diane of Oil City, Jim Andres and wife Janet of Franklin, Jerome Andres and Vic Tiberie of Coraopolis and Barbara Waldron and husband James (Blue Hawk) of Oviedo FL; 13 grandchildren, Alex Ulrich, Timothy Ulrich, James Ulrich, Paul Andres, Brendan Andres, Catherine Andres, Alan McBride, Ryan Andres and wife Jamie, Kylie Harris and husband Nathan, Erin Weaver, Joshua Andres, Shawn Andres and Jackie Paladino; and a great grandson, Aiden James Andres.

Also surviving are two brothers, Raymond Pilewski and wife Mary of King of Prussia, and Dr. Robert M. Pilewski and wife Angie of Oil City; a sister, Carol Bowser and husband David of Glendale AZ; a brother-in-law, Dr. Dana Still of Shippenville; a great aunt, Joan Stayoch of Williamsville NY; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and her extended family at the Oil City Golden Living Center.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Joan Nicolas Still.

Friends may call at the Morrison Funeral Home on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am Saturday in the Assumption BVM Church with Msgr. John Swoger, presiding.

Interment will follow in Lamey Cemetery with full military honors by the VETS Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Assumption BVM Church, St Stephen School or Venango Catholic High School.
