Major Leon Brett Temple Jr. was a skilled Lockheed P-38 Lightning fighter pilot and commander of the 430th Fighter Squadron, 474th Fighter Group. Temple was shot down and killed by anti-aircraft fire on D-Day, 6 June 1944, near St. Georges de Bohon in Normandy, France.
