Funeral services for Lilly A. Brown of McMinnville will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 13, in the chapel of Macy & Son Funeral Directors. Stan Sullivan and Cheryl Emborg will officiate.
Visitation is scheduled for 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 12, in the chapel. Interment will be conducted at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in McMinnville.
Mrs. Brown died at home on Wednesday, April 11, 2007. She was 96.
Born in Douglas, N.D., on March 16, 1911, she was the daughter of Thomas and Rachel (Forsland) Thompson. She grew up in a rural setting.
When she was 23, she moved to Underwood, N.D., where she attended high school. After graduation, she attended a nurse training program in Fergus Falls, Minn., affiliated with St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth, Minn., graduating in 1941.
Moving to Carlton, she worked at McMinnville Community Hospital from 1943 to 1945. After marrying Lester Brown in February 1945, she quit to raise a family.
She returned to work in 1958 at Physicians Medical Center in McMinnville, and remained there 15 years. She spent the next three years at Newberg Community Hospital before retiring from nursing in 1976.
Mrs. Brown is survived by three sons, Randy of Carlton, Verlin of Cottage Grove and Leryl of Troy, Idaho; two daughters, Marilyn Kinman of Dayton and Janice Kinman of Eugene; 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1967, and by two brothers and three sisters.
