Lafayette Gordon Plummer was the son of Fred Gordon Plummer, a forester who moved his family from the state of Washington to the Point Loma community around the turn of the century. Fred became a senior forester with the Federal Forest service, and was instrumental in developing conservation policies within the service. Son Gordon was born in 1904. His mother read to him from Blavatsky's 'Secret Doctrine' from a young age. He worked in print shops in the community, and later became an author and lecturer at the Point Loma school of theosophy. Young Gordon studied mathematics, philosophy and science, as well as theosophy. He authored several books and many magazine articles on theosophical topics.
