Betty Jo (Lunsford) Clemmer, 67, widow of the love of her life for 23 years, Dennis Edward Clemmer, of Staunton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at her residence.
She was born March 22, 1951 in Staunton, a daughter of the late George Darrell and Mabel Irene (Lucas) Lunsford.
Prior to retirement, Mrs. Clemmer was a teacher at Crimora Elementary and Riverheads Elementary Schools with 30 years of service. She was a member of Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church and the Middlebrook Ruritan Club. In 2013 she was the Ruritan National First Lady.
She was a loving and supportive farmer’s wife who enjoyed cooking, karaoke, and entertaining family and friends. She was the glue that held the family together.
Family members include a daughter, Joanna Clemmer Nichols; a grandson, Alex Nichols; numerous nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 12, 2018 in Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church by the Revs. Rick Dellinger and Lance Braun. Burial will follow in Mt. Hermon Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Mike Kirsch, Calvin Shelton, Mike Crissley, Rich Nichols, Jackie Whetzel, Lynn Fillers, Jerry Jarvis, Scott Campbell, and Bill Heizer.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Middlebrook Ruritan Club and Ty Early.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, May 11, 2018 in the Henry Funeral Home and other times at the residence, 3208 Middlebrook Road, Staunton.
