Lavon Elizabeth Dunn was born on June 6, 1922, in Tyrone Township, Kent County, Michigan, to Nuel L. Dunn and Edith Reinoldt Dunn. She married William A Armentrout on September 10, 1949, in Sparta, Michigan. They had four children during their marriage. She died on October 6, 2009, in Au Gres, Michigan, at the age of 87.

Obituary:
Lavon E. (Dunn) Armentrout, age 87 of Au Gres, passed away Tuesday evening, October 6, 2009 at Standish St. Marys Skilled Nursing Facility. Lavon was born at home on June 6, 1922 in Kent County, Michigan to the late Nuel and Edith (Reinoldt) Dunn. She attended Kent City Schools, graduating as valedictorian of the Class of 1940. Lavon was an expert pianist, playing in many school recitals. She also had a beautiful voice and sang in a double quartet. After high school, Lavon graduated from Howell's Business School in Muskegon, Michigan. She was employed as an executive secretary by Anaconda Wire & Cable Co., in Muskegon, where she worked until her marriage to William Armentrout on September 10, 1949. She then worked at Anderson Coach Co. in East Tawas as a payroll clerk from 1955 - 1957. Lavon was also the township clerk for Au Gres Township and a payroll clerk for the Arenac Co. Road Commission until her retirement in 1974. She then moved to Au Gres, Michigan where she was a member of the Twining Methodist Church also playing piano for their services. Lavon was an avid reader. She enjoyed antiquing, genealogy, and taking annual trips to Mackinac Island with her sister and nieces. Lavon is survived by three sons and one daughter, three grandchildren; sister, Kathleen Dunn Baehre of Kent City, Michigan; four nieces; one nephew; and 13 great-nieces and nephews. Lavon was preceded in death by her husband, William, in 1997 and her brother-in-law, Frederick H. Baehre. Funeral Service will take place 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 10, 2009 at the C.L. Forshee & Sons Funeral Home Twining Chapel with Pastor Timothy S. Woycik officiating. Interment will follow in Sims-Whitney Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
