Garland Baker, worm rancher, bank organizer

Pine Bluff - Garland Baker Sr., 82, of Pine Bluff, founder of the Arkansas Worm Ranch, an organizer of Pine Bluff National Bank and widow of Nellie Lou Hogg Baker, died Saturday.

Baker also organized Ten-Ark Corp. and Jefferson County Wildlife Association and was a former employee of Western Union.

He was a member of Pine Bluff First Baptist Church, Sahara Shrine Temple and Shrine's Motor Patrol, Pine Bluff Rotary Club and was a Mason.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Home by the Rev. Steve Ringo. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Seabrook YMCA in Pine Bluff.

Survivors are a son; a sister; and three grandchildren.

He was an organizer of the Pine Bluff National Bank and Ten-Ark Corp., member of Pine Bluff First Baptist Church, a Mason, Sahara Shrine Temple, Pine Bluff Rotary Club, assisted in organizing Jefferson County Wildlife Association and the Pine Bluff Boys Club.

Survivors are a son, a sister and three grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Seabrook YMCA in Pine Bluff.
