Trudy Laurane Petty: 91 years old, lifelong resident of the Antioch, IL and Lake Villa, IL area, passed away Sunday April 22, 2018. She was born January 14, 1927 in Highland Park, IL the daughter of the late Lawrence and Frieda (Eggert) Yopp. Trudy graduated in 1949 from Lake Forest College. Before her retirement in 1985, Trudy worked for many years as a teacher at Antioch Elementary School, Grass Lake School, and was the first Kindergarten Teacher at Emmons School. She was a life member of: the Illinois Retired Teachers Assoc., the Lake County Retired Teachers Assoc., the Lakes Area Historical Society, the Antioch United Methodist Church, and a board member of the Grass Lake Cemetery Assoc. Trudy was a talented artist, and enjoyed: sewing, cooking, flower gardening, and Native American culture/history. In 1952 she married William E. Petty in Chicago, IL and he preceded her in death on April 21, 2009.

Survivors include: four children: Heather (Jim) Menzer, Heidi Gilday, Bill (Renee Murrin) Petty, and Paul (Patricia) Petty; 10 grandchildren: Jessica Menzer, Mike (Lydia) Menzer, Rebecca (Averell Spicer) Menzer, Anna Menzer, Kate (James) Pulaski, Thomas Gilday, Aron Petty, Megan Petty, Sara Petty, and John Petty; a great-grandson Ezekiel Spicer; a brother Lawrence Yopp; and several nieces and nephews, and relatives in Germany. In addition to her parents and husband, Trudy was preceded in death by a brother Jimmy Yopp.

Funeral Services and interment in Hillside Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Grass Lake Cemetery Association are appreciated in Trudy’s memory.
