Eugene Paul Swanson was born February 1, 1948, to Felix and Alsada (Esau) Swanson in Windom, Minnesota. He attended country school in Cedar Township and later was a 1966 Graduate of Trimont High School. Gene attended the University of Minnesota St. Paul Campus and then North Dakota State in Fargo. He later attended the University of Minnesota Crookston Campus where he graduated from. On December 22, 1973, he was united in marriage to Sandra Wilds at Evangelical Covenant Church in Trimont, Minnesota. After their marriage, they lived and farmed in Cedar Township, rural Trimont, Minnesota with his family until the time of his death. Gene was a member of the Bethel Evangelical Free Church in Fairmont where he served as Trustee, Deacon and help run their sound system. He served on the board at Camp Shamineau in Motley where he was in charge of their horse program. He also took many kids on trail rides to the Black Hills.

Gene died on Tuesday evening, April 10, 2007 at his home in rural Trimont, Minnesota at the age of fifty-nine years.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra Swanson of rural Trimont, Minnesota; son, Nathan Swanson and his son, Justin, of rural Trimont, Minnesota; daughter, Mary Lee and her husband, Brian, of Vadnais Heights, Minnesota; brother, Randall Swanson and his wife, Debbie, of rural Trimont, Minnesota; mother-in-law, Marlene Wilds of Winnebago, Minnesota; brother-in-law, Dennis Wilds and his wife, Suzie, of Mankato, Minnesota; sisters-in-law, Lyn Laue and her husband, Don, of rural Dunnell, Minnesota, Donna Budd and her husband, Fred, of Herndon, Virginia, Amy Hahn and her husband, Jerry, of Gaylord, Minnesota; several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, infant son, Aaron; father-in-law, Donald Wilds; brother-in-law, Steven Wilds and other relatives.

Gene was a distant relative of my husbands. Gene's father Felix and my husband's grandma Ruth were related.
