Fred was born March 15, 1921 in South Bend, to the late Jozef and Kontana (Karpinski) Cencelewski. On December 24, 1943 in Venice, Florida, Fred married Alice (Mrozinski) Cencelewski; she preceded him in death on May 2, 2010. Fred was also preceded in death by son, Tim W. Cencelewski on Aug 16, 2013.
Survivors of Fred include his sons, Frederick J. Cencelewski of Angier, NC and James M. (Sandy) Cencelewski of South Bend; daughters-in-law, Jeanne Cencelewski of Granger and Linda Cencelewski of North Carolina; grandchildren, Eric (Michele) Cencelewski, Ryan (Angie) Cencelewski, Lori (Dale) Jackson, Lisa (Joseph) Stephens, Jason (Michele) Cencelewski, Erica Cencelewski, and Mandy (Jake) Johnson; 12 great-grandchildren; and sister, Alfreda Banicki of South Bend.
Fred honorably served his country in the United States Army Air Corps. He was employed with Singers, Curtis Wright, and retired in 1986 from Hussman Corporation, formerly known as South Bend Range, where he was a Master Model Maker. Fred enjoyed bowling, playing cards, keeping up his yard and home, and attending Penn High School football games.
Visitation for Fred will be held 10:00 am to 11:00 am, Monday, April 9, 2018 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd.. with a Funeral Ceremony to begin at 11:00 am in the funeral home chapel. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Heart to Heart Hospice, 620 W. Edison Rd. Suite 122, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
